  • 3Auray Fuzzy Windbuster for Lavalier Microphones (Black)
  • 4Lexar 32GB High-Performance 633x UHS-I microSDHC Memory Card with SD Adapter

Bundled together with all the gear you need to start recording clear, distortion-free speech in any location, this B&H Kit includes the Zoom F2-BT ultracompact Bluetooth-enabled portable field recorder, a low-profile omnidirectional lavalier microphone, a furry windbuster, a memory card, and batteries.

Thanks to the F2-BT's 32-bit float technology, you can just connect the mic and start recording in crisp quality with no concern for gain adjustments, clipping, or poor signal-to-noise ratios. The windbuster is designed to tame wind noise in outdoor environments, so breezes won't destroy the intelligibility of your dialog.

With easy one-touch controls and no menus to sift through, the F2-BT offers ideal power-on-and-go operation, letting you work fast without sacrificing quality. Plus, the F2-BT's built-in Bluetooth allows comprehensive app-based control and wireless timecode synchronization.

Zoom F2-BT Ultracompact Bluetooth-Enabled Portable Field Recorder with Lavalier Microphone

Forget about clipping, forget about gain, and forget about hassle; just power on the Zoom F2-BT ultracompact portable field recorder and press record to capture clear, distortion-free dialog in an instant for your next video shoot, podcast, vlog, or interview. Plus, it empowers users with app-based control and wireless timecode synchronization in addition to everything the standard F2 model has to offer.

Thanks to its 32-bit float technology, the F2-BT handles the softest and loudest sounds you can throw at it while avoiding distortion, maintaining low-noise performance, and freeing you from the responsibility of adjusting gain. Recordings ruined by clipped converters and poorly set preamps are things of the past. You don't even have to worry about unintentionally interrupting the F2-BT because a simple flick of the Hold switch will keep it recording no matter what button you press.

Whereas other F-Series recorders such as the F4, F6, and F8n are centered around an audio bag–ready form factor for location sound recordists, the F2-BT is tailored for belt-mount and pocket-friendly placement directly on the subject. Even the included lavalier microphone, with its low-profile design and locking connector, is optimized for reliable and visually discreet operation that won't distract the wearer or the videographer. With a headphone output and onboard transport controls, the F2-BT also allows actors to listen back to recordings to critique their own performances.

From the refreshingly simple one-touch controls to the long battery life and multiple powering options, the F2-BT is properly equipped to serve you, regardless of your audio background. Whether you need long-duration recording for a podcast, professional audio capture for an interview, a rock-solid system for weddings, or a space-saving setup for vlogs, the F2-BT is ready to capture your crucial audio at any location.

The F2-BT's operational simplicity ensures that it will never get in the way of your workflow, be it simple, complex, or always changing, so you can feel confident using it as your main recorder or as a backup unit for added safety. Take advantage of convenient remote control functions—record start/stop, low-cut filtering, output volume, battery display, and more—from your mobile device through the free Zoom F2 Control app. After the shoot, transfer your files to a computer via USB, then use the supplied Steinberg WaveLab Cast software to edit, enhance, mix, and export your audio for the world to hear.

Low-Profile Lapel Mic with Locking Connector
Attach the included lavalier microphone to your subject with the supplied mic clip, then connect its 3.5mm plug–equipped cable to the input of the F2-BT; the locking connection inhibits unintended disconnects. The microphone's omnidirectional polar pattern delivers consistent audio pickup from all directions, yielding dependable voice capture even as the subject turns their head or the microphone changes position. Also, three windscreens are supplied for easy reduction of light wind noise.
Automatic Distortion-Free Audio
The F2-BT utilizes 32-bit float recording technology to capture intensely loud signals without overloading the A/D converters and bring in extremely quiet sounds without overwhelming noise, all without requiring any gain adjustment from you. Record with confidence knowing that you can just connect the microphone and start recording to attain crisp, clear dialog.
High-Quality Recording Settings
The F2-BT boasts two high-quality recording resolutions to choose from—32-bit / 44.1 kHz or 32-bit / 48 kHz, both in mono uncompressed BWF (Broadcast Wave File) format. No data compression means that no quality is lost in the creation of the audio files. Use the onboard 80 Hz low-cut filter to reduce rumble and bass buildup in your recordings.
Record Direct to microSD Cards
Maximize portability by recording directly to a microSD/microSDHC/microSDXC card (available separately) for up to 512GB of storage space.
Mic Input with Plug-In Power
The F2-BT can accommodate mic-level signals via its locking 3.5mm mini-jack input. Since it supplies 2.5V plug-in power, you're free to use common condenser mics such as lavaliers, headsets, and earsets.
Headphone/Line Output with Volume Control
A locking 3.5mm stereo output jack with dedicated volume up/down buttons enables straightforward routing to your camera, DSLR, secondary recorder, or even headphones for easy monitoring.
Power for Hours
To keep up with the pace of on-location production, the F2-BT can be powered via two AAA alkaline, Lithium, or NiMH rechargeable batteries (alkaline included), a Zoom AD-17 power adapter (available separately), or a USB Type-C battery pack (available separately). With up to 14 hours of run time on AAA batteries, all-day shoots are no problem for the F2-BT.
Bluetooth for App-Control or Wireless Timecode
The F2-BT features Bluetooth built in, no dongles needed. With the free Zoom F2 Control app, you can wirelessly start/stop recordings, display battery levels, adjust output volume, control low-cut filtering, and more from your mobile device.

You can also pair the F2-BT with an UltraSync BLUE device by Timecode Systems (available separately) to receive and write timecode to recorded files, making the F2-BT a handy recorder for professional audio-for-video applications.
USB File Transfers and Settings Editor
The F2 Editor lets you adjust settings, format SD cards, and more from your Mac or Windows computer. Since the F2-BT has a USB Type-C port, simply connect it to your computer via a USB cable (available separately) and launch the editor. The USB connection also makes it easy to transfer files to your computer.
Intuitive Controls and LED Indication
Intuitive one-touch buttons—record, play, stop, and volume up/down— provide fast, hassle-free operations with no menus to wade through. LEDs are provided for clear indication of audio level, battery status, and power.
Hold Function Inhibits Accidental Interruptions
Flip the power switch down to the Hold position to engage the Hold function, which prevents interruptions to the recording caused by accidental button presses.
Accurate Clocking
The F2-BT is equipped with a high-precision internal clock (±3ppm) to avoid audio and video syncing issues.
Low Profile and Lightweight
With its minimalist profile, the lightweight F2-BT attaches neatly on belts and waistbands, or can be slipped into a pocket so the recorder can be easily concealed.

Zoom F2-BT Reviews

I love it but the finish could be better

My only real complaint is that it has a tiny screw on the top of the unit which isn't counter sunk or anything and it looks like it's just ready to come out or something.. Because this is BT it takes a few seconds once you turn it on before you can record. Other than that, it's a great unit and 32 bit.. A no brainer.

Great recorder

Even with LQ! zoom lavalier mic, it recorded very good quality audio at wedding ceremony.

Very high-quality recording.

It's unusual to work with a device that you can't see working. But so far there have been no problems, I continue to get used to it. The mobile application works poorly and with delays, I hope it will be fixed with future software updates.

Sadly Unreliable.

After having this for some months I still can't count on it, despite its superior sound quality. It rejects many micro SD cards, without saying so; the record button often doesn't do anything, on both the app and the unit; and I have to remove the memory card from the flimsy door on the unit to transfer files since its USB-C transfer speed is... wait for it... 2MB/s. I would not buy again.

Recording stopped itself after 7 minutes

Shot a wedding recently and had the groom mic'd with the Zoom f2BT. The recording stopped after just 7 minutes, even with the lock function on. Vows were not captured at all. Completely unreliable and a real shame, because this had the potential to be a real game changer. Unless you can sit there and monitor it the entire time and be within BT range, this is completely untrustworthy.

App not compatible with Pixel 5

I bought, and didn't know it wasn't compatible with Pixel 5 phone. I can't even download the app. The recorder doesn't have a screen, so I don't know when it's recording and when it isn't. I just hate it. Prefer the DR-10L.

Unreliable. Terrible Battery life.

I would look elsewhere. If the battery life last long enough to capture everything I wouldn't get your hopes up that everything was captured. I've had this product for 6 months now and have used it at weddings and interviews. After placing new batteries in they died after two interview sessions where I was recording for 15 minutes in total. Another instance the audio didn't record for 10 seconds it cut out and then came back on, but with no lag time in the waveform which was odd. Wouldn't recommend product.

Some concerns, but easily worth the money

I've read about some problems people have had with these units, but as of late 2022 most of those bugs seem to be worked out. The build quality feels decent. The buttons and exterior seem robust enough. The belt clip is pretty tough to manage, but we've done fine with just throwing it in a pocket on lock. The bluetooth is absolutely awesome, and it's very easy to manage the entire unit from a phone. The microphone seems decent enough and it comes with a pile of windscreens and clips and things. Totally usable out of box. There are two issues/concerns we have with the unit. The SD card door seems like it might be the first thing to break. Not a crazy issue, but I won't be surprised when it happens. I don't understand the second issue, in which the USB-C port seems to only support very limited USB 2.0 speeds. I suspect it has to do with the unit's Read/Write interface, but copying footage via USB just isn't feasible. It works but takes crazy long for not much data at all. You'll definitely have to pull the card to backup.

The zoom f2 supplies plug-in power to input. Will this damage a mic like the mke 600 which has it's own battery driven power?
Asked by: Stephen
The Zoom F2-BT Portable Field Recorder can supply up to 2.5V of plug-in power to condenser mics that require it. Since the Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone can be powered by a battery, it will not draw plug-in power from the F2-BT. There will not be problems and no way to damage the mic.

A Countryman B6 wired for Sennheiser with locking 3.5mm connectivity will work with the Zoom F2-BT Ultracompact Bluetooth-Enabled Portable Field Recorder. Countryman offers several variables other than connector, such as sensitivity and color, but BH #COB6W4BSR is a good example of a compatible solution. Can it be used to record from a wedding band's console?
Asked by: yaniv
The F2-BT was not intender for that type of application, but you can make it work. The input on the F2-BT is mic level while the output from the console is line level and also uses a locking 3.5mm TRS connector, so you will need to use a line-to-mic level attenuating cable to pad the console's output signal to match the recorder's input level as well as an adapter with a locking connector to attach to the recorder's input. We have a selection of attenuating cables with different types of connectors that will work. If the console has a "tape out" with dual RCA connectors, you can use the Sescom SES-43DB-# 43 dB Pad DSLR Attenuating Line to Mic Level Cable - 18" (B&H #SES43DBMZ2P). Then to connect to the input of the recorder, add a female-to-female coupler such as the Hosa Technology GMM303 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini to 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini Adapter (B&H #HOASMFSMF) along with a cable such as the Sennheiser CL1 cable (B&H #SECL1) which has standard and locking 3.5mm connectors on the ends. The locking end will connect to the F2-BT's input. Please feel free to contact us by phone or through live chat if you would like further assistance.

I understand that you can't monitor the audio levels via the app but can you receive error messages like 'card full' via bluetooth?
Asked by: Mike
I see the response below but that's not my question. I understand you can't monitor audio remotely. I get that. You can't listen to the audio itself from the app. My question is different: if the card gets full, will the unit notify the app with those warning messages? It seems you can see the battery level but will it warn you when it's really low. The best selling point of bluetooth to me is being made aware of major issues on a unit that is 10 feet away. Otherwise having bluetooth connectivity isn't that useful to me.
