    K-Tek KE-110CCR reviews

KE-110CCR Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole with Internal XLR Cable is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding design I'm a boom operator and had been meaning to upgrade, and this pole seals the deal. With an internal coiled cable, there are never any snags when raising or lowering the pole. The internal cable does produce some handling noise, but if you're not herky jerky with it, it'll never become a problem. Also, the XLR output on the side of the pole is a really nice touch. I can unplug and detach from the pole with ease and I can lean it standing up without worry of the cable being pressed down upon. It's a bit pricey for just a pole, but let me assure you, it is NOT just a pole. Outstanding design! And hopefully I'll never have to buy another one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Pole - Only one small problem Well constructed, light weight. I like the way the internally coiled cable gives tension so that it collapses easily. The only problem I can see, is that where the internal cable exits to the exterior, there is a sharp edge. Out of the box, the cable jacketing was already part way cut through. I re-seated the cable so that it wasn't rubbing on the same spot, but I can see how after a few years of use the pole could cut open the XLR cable - rendering the features of the internal cable useless. And the pole is sealed, so good luck installing a new cable. May take a grinder or dremmel to it, bet that voids the warranty...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great boompole for the price!! This is an exceptional boompole for the price! It is very lightweight and sturdy and the internal cabling is a must for me. It extends to a great length of 9'2 even though I would prefer a longer length. Also the right angle connector on the bottom is fantastic for resting between takes without hurting the xlr connector! My only compliant would be that the internal cabling makes some noise while moving the pole back and forth when fully or almost fully extended. Also the last section is very springy when extended and has a tendency to fly back when releasing the section lock ring. I would just say be careful when extending and releasing the last section of the pole. Besides that this is a very good overall entry level boompole with great features and a good length.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Spend the extra $$ - Locking the sections is difficult - Cable rattles Thought I could save some $$ with this one but you get what you pay for. I returned this item and bought the carbon fiber version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good deal for k-tek I'm more used to the higher end k-tek carbon fiber booms, and this of course is much heavier, but if you aren't an op, and this is just sitting on a stand or not used all day, it's a great deal. Quality name at low price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre Boom pole Not bad, not great. Good deal for the price, but the cable rattles around in it too much for my liking. Too much handling noise. Worth it to pay the premium for a carbon fiber pole if you can afford it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Performance I've been using variations of K-Tek's Avalon poles for about 6 years, and have always loved them. My biggest complaint though was the XLR plug at the bottom, so buying this was an easy decision for me. I've had it about 3 weeks and have used it on about 6 shoots already, studio and in the field, and have no complaints yet. The side exit xlr is a huge bonus and the build quality is what i've come to expect from K-Tek poles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy, Useful! In would actually give this product 5 stars except that the last pole section stretches on the internal XLR cable, so I wouldn't remcommend extending the pole past that point. I haven't used it yet on a set, but I can say that it does what I bought it for: It's LONG. Really long. It's lightweight, but not cheaply made. It is sturdy machined and acidified aluminum and I am quite happy with it. (So long as it works!)
