    K-Tek KE-79 reviews

KE-79 Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole (Uncabled) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Product! I use this pole for my professional shotgun microphone in movies, weddings, and documentaries. It is very light weight. It gets really small when folded. I just don't like the fact that it scratches easily, other than that, it is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Useful This boom will be a useful one for travel. Had to make a trip to the ocean to gather sounds for a project. A typical boom wouln't pack down into a carry on bag. This one will. It was nice to see they put a cap in the bottom that can be removed. I threaded my own mic. cables (stereo) through the tube and let them hang out the bottom. Just pull on them to shorten the boom when finished. Don't need any connectors on the boom itself. Super slick and simple!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome compact Boompole! This is a very well made boompole. I was thinking about going Carbon Fiber to keep weight down, but I also needed something to fit inside my carryon Pelican 1535TPAir case. Naturally, I understood it would have short reach which removes this as a con as I knew what I was getting into. Now the build quality is amazing. It feels lightweight but sturdy for a metal build. The only problem I have is twisting the knobs, but it takes gloves and proper knowledge of where to grip depending on how tight the knobs are and which you tightened or untightened first. Aside from this problem, it is a very good price for it's capabilities. I will eventually buy a longer but CF boompole, but for small and mobile shoots that are overseas or off the plane, this is my goto.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like it I shoot corporate videos, and I have a pretty complete sound kit. This is the boompole I take when I'm traveling or going solo. I don't know why I'd need anything more. My sound guy also uses it for short takes handheld, but I don't think you'd want to use it for anything really involved. The very best thing about it is it's size. Easy to travel with. I guess that's why it's called a traveler, huh?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact, Convenient and Carry-On! I use this for film production, documentary production and commercial shoots and find that it performs perfectly. It's especially handy given that when I'm traveling for interviews or documentary work in general. I can strap it right to the outside of my carry-on and know it's going to make it to my destination. --Love this piece of gear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small & compact. beware of its weight Very compact.Shorter than most monopods. Sturdy. Be careful of the weight when fully extended!! I placed the RODE Blimp system at the end and fully extended the pole, and it became somewhat heavy to handle; but considering the price to value ratio....great deal from our friends at B&H

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great piece of gear After testing a few different ones I settled for the KE-79. It is a very compact and light it fits in my bagpack! I have been using it mostly for recording sounds, and I did try it to shoot with a GoPro camera... incredible!!!
