    Behringer FBQ800 reviews

MINIFBQ FBQ800 Graphic Equalizer is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My best hifi investment ever. The unit works very well, I can hear no extra noise or distortion or veil added to the sound. It is not so much for evening out every little bump on the frequency response, more a kind of advanced tone-control unit, as I see it. For exemple: Get rid of the too lean sound of the AKG K701 headphones while keeping their excellent soundstage etc? Put the overall range in 6dB mode, drag the 1k handle halfway down and the 2K handle slightly down, and -if you do not play very loud- increase the lowest bass a little bit. Voila! They now perform on a much higher level. You will hear a well balanced wall of sound, instead of the somewhat annoying, thin-sounding stuff of the uncorrected phones. Thanks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my needs I use the FBQ800 when I am showing Blue Rays to an audience at their location. The audio signal goes from the BlueRay player to a digital to analog converter, from there to the FBG800, and from there to the powered speakers at the front of the room. This allows me to adjust the EQ for the particular room and audience size, as well as adjust the volume level. I was suspicious when I first opened the box, since it is plastic and quite light and small - has the feel of a cheap toy. But in fact it is very robust and provides very good control (at least for what I need it for). A switch allows the EQ to adjust either +/- 6db or 12db.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly high quality I bought 2 of these units: one for my studio monitors, and one for my pro quality headphones. The 9 bands (1 per octave) are just enough to shape a perfectly balanced sound on both. There plenty of nice little touches on these units, such as output gain, 12db slider range, on/off switch at the front, level meter switchable to show either input or output. For such a cheap unit, I was worried about possible added noise. Worry not, as there is none. I use extremely transparent headphones that will pick up any imperfection, and there was not a trace of hiss, even going through a 1x2 AV splitter and an RCA to 1/8 headphone adapter. If you want to shape the sound of your speakers, then stop shopping, because you just found the item you want.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent Things are so much better and cheaper than they use to be. This is a high quality, cost effective multi tool. I've used it so far for: -pc flac headphone listening tweaking -audio adjusting for ripping laser discs and vhs with a analog to dv converter -tweeking cassette tape line out before pc capture -making studio monitors more general music listening speakers

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what the 'Doctor' ordered! I use sound bars with sub-woofers on both of our TVs but still have problems understanding a lot of dialog so thought I try a graphic equalizer. I'm sure glad I did! I installed it between the TV audio output and the Sound bar. I then have a wireless unit set up between the sound bar and a headphone. Before installing the equalizer I had a lot of problems even with the headphones on. Now I hear everything and don't really need the headphones at all. My wife finds it to be much more pleasant, too! It performs to specs!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Graphic Equalizer that does the job. I bought this equalizer to correct an overly bright(high treble) vintage stereo system. I went through several vintage graphic equalizers that quit working so I purchased this one new. I have another Behringer product that I was impressed with so I made the plunge. For the money it can't be beat. It solved my problem and the beauty of it is that I can adjust it for recordings that are not perfectly engineered or just poor quality such as early CD's and some LP's. The unit is small and that is an advantage for me because of my limited shelf space. The unit appears cheap, rather light in weight and I don't like the vampire adapter but again it was inexpensive and does the job. I connected it between my pre-amp and power amp. I just hope it's going to last many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Performance at an Incredible Price I put the Behringer MINIFBQ to a somewhat different use. My son gave me a pair of powered monitor speakers for Christmas and I happened to have a Nakamichi CD changer. I hooked the two up and it sounded great, but I wanted more control over the volume and frequency response. A Google search found the Beheringer MINIFBQ FBQ800 equalizer for *under* $ and I figured what's to lose -- you spend more for a cheap date nowadays. I purchased the FBQ800... After a trip to the *to get the needed cables I put the FBQ800 between the Nakamichi and the speakers and was shocked at how good this system sounds. The FBQ800 gives a plus-or-minus 6 or 12 db boost or cut from 62.5 Hz to 16k Hz in 9 steps, doubling the prior frequency at each step. This gave me far more control over the frequency response than I needed, but what the heck. I subsequently learned from my son, who is lead singer in a good but amateur rock-and-roll band that Beheringer has a very good reputation among musicians. The unit seems very well made and documented. I can't think of anything I don't like about it.Also, I would like to put in a good word for B&H. The walk-in store is one of the better places in NYC to shop for cameras and photographic accessories. The web store was equally as good with fair prices, ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my needs Because of a small listening room, I had used a larger Beheringer equalizer to even out the resonances overall, using CDs as the source. My turntable uses a MC cartridge that, despite a high gain MC phono preamp, still didn't reach the level or bass impact as its equivalent CD did. So I purchased this ridiculously inexpensive FBQ800 to feed the line input because it also equalized the volume to the same level as my orher sources. I was concerned about the plastic case but I have had zero hum issues so not an issue. Many would tell you that so much electronics between the cartridge and the amplifier (MC phono preamp with its own built in RIAA equalizer-FBQ800 cartridge equalizer-line preamplifier-main room equalizer-power amp) is an audiophile no-no but any loss of purity (I could hear none) is more than compensated by matching the TT to the speakers/room. It sounds better. Very satisfied with this product. Kudos to Berhinger. Thanks.
