I print a lot of photos with my two Epson printers. The 3880 is a terrific product, and it requires a lot of ink and a lot of quality paper. I rely on B&H for these supplies and the printers themselves. This review is for a K# Cyan ink cartridge for the Epson 3880 printer. I place the order with B&H, and two days later I have a brand-newcartridge installed and ready to go. One time I tried to order this cartridge from a competitor - when the cartridge arrived, the product expiration date was obscured by a piece of tape. I opened the box, and the cartridge itself had "best used by April 2016!" The ink was ten years old, and there is no way I put that in MY printer!
Epson's UltraChrome inks are said to be made with pigments rather than dyes--which would make them far more resistant to fading. But one pays for the improvement--the price now approaches $90 per cartridge color. When one only prints occasionally, head cleaning is necessary to clear the nozzles, and this uses far more expensive ink than the prints themselves. Epson needs to make a printer that caps the nozzles such that they don't need this waste.
