Tiffen 37mm Circular Polarizer Filters - Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.

If you're out walking on a lovely day - in the mountains or at the beach - and you want to get a fabulous shot of a cloud-filled sky or make the water seem more saturated, then a polarizer is the way to go. This filter is the best way to make the clouds stand out, increase or decrease the saturation of the ocean or increase or decrease the reflection off the water. You can also use this filter when shooting into glass or windows since it will, again, either increase or decrease reflections.

If you're shooting black and white and want to simulate a threatening storm, try throwing on a #25 Red filter. The vista will take on the appearance of an imminent, ominous storm.

Along with a UV or Skylight Filter, a polarizing filter should be a part of everyone's gear bag. It can turn a run-of-the-mill image into a stunning, creative photo by increasing color saturation.

Note: Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problems)

This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays from outdoor shots as well as polarizing the light to remove reflections, and increase color saturation, without affecting the overall color balance
Can dramatically enhance a blue sky and make the clouds more prominent
Used best at right angle to the sun
Effective with cameras that use beam splitters in the path of the TTL light meter and with AF cameras

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really spectacular color effects! I now leave this filter on my camera, and a similar one on another identical camera. The filters let me eliminate reflections always outdoors and a lot of times indoors. The filter barrel rotates freely without moving the manual focus setting on the camera lens while allowing me to watch the effects in the viewer. I haven't discovered anything wrong with it as yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Polarizer improves the color of my video I love my new Sony HDR- CX 550 camcorder. It takes beautiful video and excellent stills. I especially enjoy using it under low lighting conditions. With the purchase of the new polarizing filter, I'm now happier with the color of my outdoor video and stills. So glad you had the exact Tiffen filter in stock when I came in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good performance This filter is being used on a Sony HXR-MC50U for taking video of swimming competitions and similar swimming related events. The filter does an excellent job of reducing glare and giving clearer video of the action above and below the water. The only thing I didn't like is the color shift under fluorescent lighting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money I bought this to use specifically with my 1st-Generation LensBaby. It's done all that I expected, is easy to install or remove, polarizes just as well as the larger-diameter circular polarizer I use with my regular lenses, and rotates with silky smoothness. Well worth what I paid for it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looking good I am using this out on the field (paleontology) for documenting. I got the filter as an extra hoping to clean up the picture a little (out in the desert). It fits on nicely and has threads for another filter to double up on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! I use this CPL for controlling reflections for an artistic effect on plants and removing glare from water surfaces. The integrated turn ring allows me to do this without loosing the filter and it works great.
