Hoodeye Eyecup for Canon 5D, 5D Mark II, 6D, Rebel T3/1100D Models is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but imperfect The Hood-Eye works as advertised in almost completely eliminating the peripheral light that interferes with your view through the viewfinder. This greatly improves the viewfinder image clarity when outdoors. In this respect I'm completely happy with it. Unfortunately, the diameter of its lens is maybe 1mm too small, preventing a 100% view of the camera viewfinder without ever so slightly shifting your eye location side to side if you want to clearly see into the corners. The viewfinder clarity improvement (in typical outdoor light) is enough to keep it on my camera in spite of a slight reduction in visibility in the extreme corners. Because of this I would not provide an *unqualified* recommendation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eliminate Glare Inside Your Viewfinder When I'm shooting outside in bright sun, seeing my EV settings inside my viewfinder without the HoodEye by Hoodman, was like trying to find a needle in the haystack. Up until I bought the HoodEye, it was next to impossible. I shoot strictly in Manual mode, and especially in bright snow when you have to over-expose by a 1/2 to full stop, to see those EV settings was torture. I had to point the camera in a different direction, press the shutter half-way, then recompose keeping the inside meter in sight. The HoodEye eliminated inside glare and allowed me to fine-tune my images precisely in the fashion I wanted, for precisely the look I wanted. I would recommend the HoodEye to any serious photographer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great replacement eyepiece This is a great replacement eyecup for the original canon eyepiece for my 5D mark II. I've been through two eyepieces before buying this one and this will by my last. The original canon eyecup snapped off to easily when around my neck and when putting my camera in my bag. This one if much larger and fits much tighter so it's not as easy to come off. It fits your eye much better than the original but the only thing is it covers just a little bit of your screen but not a big deal in my eyes. Definitely worth a look if you're tired of the stock canon eyepiece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great eyecup limited use with articulating LCD's I really love the isolation you get when using an eyecup. I purchased this for a Canon 80d. This fits great but it WILL interfere with the articulating screen. It's really not a deal breaker, If I'm shooting video or using the LCD for live view long exposure shooting I keep my stock piece on the camera. If I know I'm going to be running and gunning for wildlife I will flip my LCD into the traditional position and install the eyecup for better isolation. When it's time to pack up I just slide the eyecup up and flip the screen back in to its protection position.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely glad i purchased this! For awhile i had been without an eyepiece on my Canon 6D. Lost it and just never cared to buy a new one! haha - But every time i took a photo the grooves where you attache an eyepiece would make contact with my for head and leave a fun little red mark that made me look amazing.........So finally i decided to replace it. My friend has this same Eyecup and i remember liking it so i snagged one for myself. Great decision. Such a small aspect of taking a photo that you wouldn't think would matter, but its very comfortable and NOT huge. Go buy one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Helps keep out glare This is a major improvement over the stock eyecup. The Hoodeye helps keep out glare from ambient light. It forms a reasonable around your eye to keep out the light. That is the good. The bad is that it is a little difficult to rotate (for vertical shots) and partially blocks the color LCD screen, especially when rotated for a vertical shot. On balance for me, the benefits outweigh the minor annoyances. And ... for glasses wearers, this will work if you take your glasses off and use the diopter adjustment on your viewfinder.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't bother Very disappointing. Cheaply made, does not fit correctly - opening is not centered over viewfinder, it covers a large chunck of the screen on the back. Waste of money. I really would like an eyecup for my 5D MkII that worked better in bright light and thought this would be perfect - it's unusable in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can see clearly now@ This give you a much better view through the view finder. It blocks out all light leaking in from the sides and it rotates easily for left or right eye shooting. Works great in portrait orientation as well since is spins 360 degrees around the view finder.
