Hoodman's Hoodeye Eyecup for Canon 18mm Eyepieces Models will help block out light when looking through your camera's viewfinder . From its over-sized design, which seals out ambient light, to its rotating nature that accommodates right or left eyed shooters, this eyecup ensures that the Canon 18mm eyepiece shooter can get their shot with ease. The self locking mount slides over the eyepiece mounting rails, keeping the cup in place. Additionally, the hypoallergenic silicon keeps irritation at bay for hours of comfortable shooting. When used on cameras with articulating screens, the HoodEye Eyecup will prevent full motion, requiring users to remove the eyecup before moving the screen into position.

Hoodeye Eyecup for Canon 18mm Eyepieces Models is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 66.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Problem solver Such a simple solution to my problems. I would have trouble seeing in the bright sun. The HoodEye blocks the light and provides a cushion to press against. An added result is that when I'm out in the wind now I no longer experience the tunneling effect that blew the wind into my eye causing it to water so much I could not see out of it. My viewing eye is totally protected from the wind now. So much more comfortable while shooting. It does interfere with the articulated screen on my Canon 60-D BUT, in a very limited way. While in use I just shoot and leave it open so it's not a problem. I easily hold the bottom of the HoodEye back and close the screen when I'm done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should've bought this sooner It does exactly what it says it will: is more comfortable than the stock eyepiece, blocks stray light better, the rubber spins so you can use either eye in vertical or horizontal orientation. Looks and feels high quality, snaps into place snugly, makes it easier to hold the camera against my head to keep it steadier. If you never put the camera against your forehead, you won't need this; if you do (of course you do!), the you need this. There are a couple different models, but the Hoodman site is clear about which one fits which camera models. Pick the right one and enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for bright sunlight The HoodEye was very easy to install and was certainly affordable enough. I shoot mostly nature scenes with landscapes and wildlife, so the HoodEye has been great for blocking out unwanted sunlight outdoors. I also love that I don't have to contort mash my nose up against the LCD screen quite so much to get a clear look out of the view finder. The HoodEye does block a little bit of the LCD screen, but it hasn't bothered me. My only complaint is that the rubber eyepiece doesn't turn quite as quickly/smoothly as I would have liked when changing camera angles. Perhaps this is just because it is still new. Otherwise, a great product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great Works great! Contoured shape fits against your face well to block out any light as opposed to using the flat standard eyepiece the camera comes with. It does block the top part of the LCD (at least on my camera), but not too much. It's also very easy to put on & snaps into place. (I've seen/read other reviews about having to shave off some plastic to install the piece, this is not the case, watch the instructional/how-to video on the Hoodman website.) Only thing I wish it had or was compatible with is an eyepiece cover, so I can block the light entering the eyepiece when using a remote trigger & such. The rectangular cover on the camera neck strap won't fit unless the HoodEye is removed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keep that light out! This has to be one of my favorite accessories on my camera. No longer do i have to cover the top of the camera when it's bright outside! Fit's nicely around the eye socket for me. Although i usually hold the camera at an angle. You have to get the camera pretty flat against your face to really block all light out. Overall, it works very well. It's super easy to install. Just slide the old one up and slide the new one down on! Yes, it also does cover part of the screen, but if you really want to. Just trim some of the rubber on the bottom. I'm sure it won't affect the performance much at all. Worth a shot?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Hoodman! When I was shooting my Nikon, I added a Hoodman eye cup to help to view the viewfinder image when I developed cataracts. The addition of the Hoodman eyecup helped me immensely until I had the cataract surgery for both my eyes. After surgery all was well, but I continued to make use of the Hoodman eyecup on my Nikon, I love the look and feel and of course the better view of the viewfinder for shooting. When I switched to a Canon recently, I really missed my Hoodman eyecup, so the 2nd accessory I ordered was a Hoodman eyecup for my 80D! It is a permanent addition, and will be on any DSLR I shoot with!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eye Relief at Last Ordered this to use with a Vortex Media Pro SLR Storm Jacket Camera Cover. Not only did it work perfectly with the storm cover, it actually eases eye strain and allowed me to shoot with both eyes open with no problem. My only grip and it's small one, is that it blocks my view screen a little and it's in the way when I try to turn it. I have a flip out view screen (Canon 60D). Otherwise, I just pop it on when ready to go out shooting. See my review for the Vortex Media Pro SLR Storm Jacket Camera Cover for more on my review of the Hoodeye.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hoodman HoodEye for Canon 40D Overpriced for what it is, but at least the quality is good. I knew if I went the cheaper route I would've ended up regretting it. The rubber is soft and the fit and finish is good. I can't understand Canon's factory eyecups, they're square and have no cushion against your eye socket. The HoodEye does obstruct part of the LCD screen though, but that's a minor trade off for a more sensible eyeCUP and almost a non-issue with me. Overall pleased with it.
