FotodioX CY-EOS-PRO overview

  • 1Description

This Pro Lens Adapter from Fotodiox enables the use of your Contax/Yashica lenses on Canon EF-mount DSLR cameras. It features a durable brass construction with stainless steel finish, a leaf spring ensures a secure connection between the lens and adapter, and its design also maintains infinity focus.

This manual adapter does not maintain automatic lens control between the camera and lens; aperture priority or manual shooting modes should be used, as well as stop-down metering for exposure control.
It is not recommended to use this adapter with the Contax/Yashica 18mm f/4, 85mm f/1.2, or 135mm f/2 lenses in conjunction with Canon EOS 5D-series DSLRs.

    FotodioX CY-EOS-PRO reviews

Pro Lens Mount Adapter for Contax/Yashica Lens to Canon EF-Mount Camera is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great This is the 2nd FotodioX adapter for Contax/Yashica to Canon EF I've bought. I use these on a Canon 5D Mark ii and adapt C/Y Zeiss 85mm f1.4 and 200mm f 3.5 lenses. I have tested sharpness is even going from left to right of the image using the adapters. I bought the first one many years ago and it has been switched between the 2 lenses many times with ease and no mechanical trouble - built well. You have to stop down the lenses manually to set the exposure, but it's a mild inconvenience to still use these wonderful prime lenses and not spend thousands on Canon EF-mount Zeiss prime lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Save your Zeiss Lenses with this adapter A 4/18 Distagon for Contax is among the best super wide angles you can buy. Granted, with this Adapter you loose some of the features (no autofocus, no auto-stop down) but for the real photographer the quality of the lens is the most important thing. Oh, and I also saved about $ 800 dollars which I otherwise would have to pay for a replacement Canon lens...............

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good'n'cheap! this adapter allows me to use my contax lenses on my red epic or anything with a canon mount, and it is way better than it's competitors. It's stays on tight and is reasonably priced enough to where you could buy one for each of your lenses and your pockets not hurt! plus other like metabones I noticed to be a lil loose creating lens wobble but this is on there! taking it off isnt as easy with your bare hands but I just use a small metal clip and it gets it right off

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works as expected-well I'm just interested in using manual mode. Set the F stop, shutter speed, focus, check the meter and shoot-no problem. Adapter should have a button to disengage from C/Y lens; it's a bit difficult to release the metal tab/bar to allow the lens to separate from the adapter. If I attach a 2x to the adapter the C/Y lenses can be released from the 2x easily...but that's not always what one wants. Overall, I'm satisfied.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for This works. It mounts my 85 1.4 to my 5dMk4, allows me to take great photos, and is half the price of the good adapter. BUT, there is a slight amount of play and the lens rocks ever so slightly back and forth. Will this ever impend my ability to take photos, No. Does it make a finely engineered piece of glass mechanically feel like a like low end lens, yes. For me, I love the smoothness of how Contax focuses. This adapter detracts from the experience. For the extra money, I think it's worth getting the quality mount that everyone talks about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Solid Working Adapter I was able to attach and detach this adapter with one hand. When attaching, a crimped metal band passes over a fixed piece of metal then falls and clicks into a detent. There is very, very little movement allowed when the lens is attached to a camera. To remove the adapter, grasp it with one hand, place the back of your fingernail against the crimped piece of metal and push it completely out of the detent, then turn the adapter to the left. The action may shave a small fleck off the back of your fingernail. which you can blow away. This is easy enough for me with my smaller fingers, but if you have large hands, or chew away your fingernails, you may have difficulty. I only have one C/Y lens to adapt, so I won't need to remove the adapter, but I did it several times for this review.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works I'm using this with an old Carl Zeiss manual lens and it works fine. Only issue is that the adapter doesn't lock on the lens. So when changing the zoom it sometimes unlocks the lens from the body
