FotodioX FD-EOS-PRO overview

  • 1Description

This Pro Lens Adapter from Fotodiox enables the use of your Canon FD lenses on Canon EF-mount DSLR cameras. It features a durable brass construction with stainless steel finish and a leaf spring ensures a secure connection between the lens and adapter. Additionally, through the use of a 1.4x multi-coated focus correction lens, this adapter is designed to maintain infinity focus. This correction lens can also be removed to render the adapter as an extension tube for macro shooting.

This manual adapter does not maintain automatic lens control between the camera and lens; aperture priority or manual shooting modes should be used, as well as stop-down metering for exposure control.

    FotodioX FD-EOS-PRO reviews

Pro Lens Mount Adapter for Canon FD Lens to Canon EF-Mount Camera is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 53.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will Buy Again I've used the Canon FD to EOS Fotodiox Pro Lens Mount Adapter on my EOS 60D. I have the Canon 85mm f1.2, 135mm f2.8, 200mm f2.8, and Tokina 80-200mm f2.8 FD Lenses. All mount to the adapter and camera securely. Aperture can be changed in click stops with the lens aperture ring (be sure to set the adapter ring away from the install position), or click-free using the adapter ring (leave camera ring in smallest aperture). The adapter aperture ring is right up against the camera body, so it is not as convenient to use. All lenses focused to infinity, and a wee bit more. Close focus distance is increased by approximately 3X. For example, the 85mm close focus increased from roughly 11 to 30 inches. Exposure metering is done in stopped down aperture mode, just like I used to way back in my high school days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old Glass is now almost new !!! My bag has 4 old FD lenses that have been sitting in the closet begging to be used. For a $ investment (with tax) they now get to come to life on my new Canon 70D. I shot about 100 shots using it w/my 70-210 FD mount zoom that I bought in 1980 or 81. It's a lot of fun shooting everything manual. It's not an L-series, but it will give you serviceable shots. Just remember that when you use it along w/a Crop Sensor Camera it will almost double the length and move you up one stop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great I'm a DSLR video guy. And of course I can buy older lenses way cheaper than newer ones, and it makes much less of a difference in the video world than it does in the photo world. So, I bought an older FD lens, bought this adapter, and now I have a 80 - 200 2.8 lens for around $200. This little adapter saved me lots of money and it works like a charm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old lens new again! Now I can use some of my older lenses again! Unlike newer lenses there is no autofocus or aperture settings, it's all manual. But it fits well and gives me the 'old school' feel of photography. I also like the bright blue mounting ring for easy recognition of which lens system is on my camera. Well worth the price to almost double my lens collection. Also I can now mount my EOS camera to a telescope that has a FD connector.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Getting the job done easily This adapter worked great to use some older FD canon lenses on my new 6D. The only down side is that at the very lowest aperture of the lens, it will not focus sharply. So you will need to shoot only until the second to last aperture if you want your image in focus. Very small and compact and goes on just like any other lens adapter. I personally love the bright blue color and that is what sweetened the deal for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great item I am using this item to attach a FD lens to a EOS EF mount camera. the things that i love about this adapter is how easy and secure it keeps my new lens. overall it's a great item and I 100% recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value I bought the adapter for a friend who was about to quit a number of very good, but older, Canon FD type lenses. The FotodioX adapter does exactly what it is supposed to do. My friend has now rediscovered their enthusiasm for photography without a lot of cost to replace a variety of lenses being involved............oh and the shipping halfway around the world went as advertised!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from FD/EOS adapter Well made and solidly built. Not sure if the lenses I used with it or the optic in the adapter causes some chromatic aberration. Mind you the lenses I'm using are not high dollar FD lenses,so I expected the CA anyway. So unless I get some nice FD lenses or FD-L ones it works perfectly.Other than the CA issue I have. Sharpness is exactly what I expected, very good.
