The B+W 95mm XS-Pro Digital ND Vario MRC-Nano Filter is a solid variable neutral density filter providing an exposure reduction of 1 to 5 stops. The 0.3 to 1.5 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the front filter ring, helping you to predetermine the additional exposure length required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. For easier, repeatable control over density settings, the front ring is also visually demarcated with dots that represent different density values.

The Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) is both an anti-reflection coating as well as a protective surface. It helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, it offers greater protection to the filter substrate and stays cleaner for longer than uncoated filters. The Nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters provides an additional eighth layer over the MRC, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features a thin mount which helps to reduce the likelihood to vignetting when used with wide-angle lenses. The filter ring is made from brass for durability as well as jamming prevention.

    Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not really 1-5 stops. dissapointing. bought this filter with much expectation for my Sony 28-135mm lens. agreed to pay 8x more money than the comparable Bower due to amazing reviews. the issue is not the quality which is great, but that this filter is actual 0.5 to 2.5 stops, and not 1-5. no fancy testing. I just watched my exposure changing when I rotated it and it is not what is claimed. if you need a top quality 0.5 to 2.5 stops go for it. but spending $500 and getting half of the promised range is disappointing.

Would buy again, but info on B&H's website is wrong and it doesn't fit a Zeiss Distagon 15mm as the B&C Live Chat person said it would. It works great and is nice to have as an option: However...beware: Front threads are 105mm NOT 95mm as B&H's website says - therefore it's a bigger diameter than expected and will not fit under the non-removable Zeiss Distagon 15mm lens hood as I was told. It works well on other lenses and with step up rings can be a universal ND - I've used it successfully several times in such an application. Quality is B+W's normal - very high. A rubber lens hood with 105mm threads works well with it if that's a concern. The product quality is definitely 5 stars. It's expensive - make sure it will fit if it's for one lens only.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best variable ND filter I use the variable ND filter for video work, when using my A7RII cameras, and it does the job very nicely. In the absence of built-in ND filters, it is the best method of resolving exposure issues, so that I can keep the shutter speed at optimal rates. If you are looking for the premium variable ND filter, this is the one. Not cheap, but the best!
