Make the most of your existing collection of Canon EF/EF-S-mount lenses with this Canon EF/EF-S Lens to Micro Four Thirds-Mount Camera Lens Adapter with Aperture Control from Vello. This durable adapter will allow you these lenses to be mounted to a Micro Four Thirds-mount camera. Precise construction makes it easy to attach an adapted lens to a camera body and keep it secure during use. Infinity focus is guaranteed, ensuring proper functionality when shooting at long distances. This adapter features a built-in manual aperture control ring that will allow the aperture of the lens to be controlled for adjusting exposure and depth of field.

The adapter is made from a durable zinc alloy for long life. Although the lens will fit physically, autofocus, automatic diaphragm (AE metering), and other functions dependent on communication between camera body and lens will be disrupted by the lens adapter. Focus and exposure will need to be set manually, or metered in aperture priority (stop-down) mode.

Enables the use of Canon EF/EF-S-mount lenses on Micro Four Thirds camera bodies, meaning an existing collection of lenses can be used on later generation DSLRs and mirroless cameras.

The following are just INITIAL impressions, Ill be taking this out on a gig tomorrow and will update if anything new comes along. I wouldnt try this on a lens past around 100mm in focal length BEFORE crop factor. You will slowly get a pinhole effect as the lens WILL pick up the aperture ring first before the glass, Which makes sense due to its positioning. HOWEVER, If your looking to adapt say, an 18 to 55 or something below 100mm you likely wont pick up that and it will get the job done. Its not a perfect fix all for every lens, a speedbooster would obviously be a superior choice, but if your in a VERY specific pinch with a lens you need to adapt and need aperture control for BOTH EF and EF-S in a single package, this thing will get the job done.

Fit and worked as good as canon at a1/4 of the price. Despite what I've read I went and bought one. The Vello works as good as Canon. Adaptor is not loose on my camera and all functions work as they should

will this work with the panasonic lumix dmc-gf1? and whats the difference between the macro version and the Aperture Control version can you not change your aperture on the macro version ?

Yes this will work with the Panasonuc Lumix DMC-GF1, or any Micro Four Thirds mount camera. The macro version of the adapter allows for macro close-focusing. The aperture control version allows for the aperture of the Canon lens to be controlled, otherwise you would be without it. The macro version does not control the aperture so the Canon lens would be wide-open at the lowest f-stop it has, like f/2.8 or f/1.8 for example.

Beware crop factor, not mentioned in spec. What % of area of FULL FRAME is lost, to MFT image?

This adapter is an extender, not a cropping device. I bought a Vello adapter for my Canon EOS6D and 7D to fit my old FD canon lenses.The Vello extender increases focal length by 1.25x and add one f stop.EOS 6D (full frame)-Vello adapter- FD 50mm f1.4 lens become a 63 mm f2 lens. No cropping with Vello adapter.EOS 7D (1.6 crop)-Vello adapter-FD 50mm f1.4 lens become a 1.6(crop)x1.25(extender)=100mm f2 equivalent view compared with full frameIf the MFT adapter is similar to one described above then:FD 50mm f1.4 on MFT sensor (2.0 crop) + extender would be: 2x1.25x50=125mm f2 equivalent view . I am very happy with the Vello adapter. I took great photos with my old FD canon lenses. They are sharp and soft. Characteristics difficult to find in new lenses.
