Hoya ND Filter (55mm, 3-Stop)
Key Features
  • 0.9 Optical Density
  • Multicoated (HMC)
  • Glass
The 3-stop, 55mm Hoya ND Filter has several uses and offers the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. ND filters create a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overexposing your image. By slowing your exposure time, you can create motion blur for special effects or to convey a sense of movement. Opening your iris allows you to create shallow depth of field, which can help isolate your subject. They have no effect on color balance.

question

Is this compatible with a 40mm lens?
Asked by: Tim
It depends on what you mean by 40mm. If that is the focal length then you need more info (thread size). If that is the thread size (probably 40.5) then you need a 40.5 to 49mm step-up ring. B&H has them for $9 and up.

question

HelloWould this Filter and the Hoya 52mm Alpha Circular Polarizer Filter work (Compatible) with Panasonic Lumix FZ200?Thank you.Shaun
Asked by: Anonymous
The sizes of both filters are the proper size for the FZ200 and will properly fit it, however Panasonic's instruction for the manual discourages use of two filters on the camera, likely as it will become too darkened for the camera to autofocus with.
