The Hoya 67mm Neutral Density (NDX8) 0.9 Filter has several uses and offers the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. They have no effect on color balance.

Multi-coated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.

Neutral Density filters have four main uses

To enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with high speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars
To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background
To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations
To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which could cause overexposure

Neutral Density Factors

2x = ND.3 (exposure adjustment = 1 stop, reduces ISO 1/2)
4x = ND.6 (exposure adjustment = 2 stops, reduces ISO 1/4)
8x = ND.9 (exposure adjustment = 3 stops, reduces ISO 1/8)
As one of the premier filter manufacturers, Hoya filters continue to made from quality glass assuring the photographer clear, sharp and accurate images
Hoya filters consistently provide even color all the way through the filter; All surfaces are ground and polished to specific thickness and tolerances

67mm Neutral Density (NDX8) 0.9 Filter is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice quality at a great price Use for waterfall photography where I need to use a long exposure in daylight. Works great, especially when you have an assortment of different ND filter strengths to work with. However, I have noticed on my 77mm Hoya NDs that the mounting clip inside the ring is beginning to separate and the glass is now loose. That might have happened during exposure to hot sunlight in the summer months. Also, be aware that you cannot use your normal lens cleaner to clean these filters (as stated on the filter case, but I inadvertently used the cleaner and it streaks the filters really badly!). Still, used properly, these are a must-have in your camera bag!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice filter I bought this filter to use with my Nikkor 85mm f1.8 so that I can shoot at larger apertures. I haven't shot much with the filter yet, but it seems to do the job well. It's well built and appears to have good optical quality. A good value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent filter great quality on this filter. It's Japan made. Very little refraction added but better than most others. Keep it clean and safe. It attracts dust.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Filter I like this filter but I have problem cleaning it, Can't use any chemical cleanser to clean it, only soft cotton cloth, It will clean by cloth but it will take a while, other than that, it's a great filter. I used it for waterfalls and outside portraits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ND filter Ive used it a few times now. it's a great filter! I use it in bright sun to get slower shutter speeds for flash photography, getting 1/200 was easy at f/4 with this filter. Ive also used it once to get a waterfall with a slow shutter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does what it's supposed to The filter works perfectly on my 70D 18-135mm lens. I got it to be able to shoot at a low aperture outdoors, and can now do that. I haven't used other filters on the 70D yet, so I cannot compare this filter to anything else out there.
