Leofoto LS-284CEX Reviews

Pretty nice tripod

The built in leveling base was a key feature. I plan to use it with a fluid head. For me, at 5'8, this is plenty tall. When fully extended I am not quite tall enough to read the built in battle level. It comes with a little manual describing features and disassembly for cleaning. It also came with a multi-Allen Wrench tool bottle opener.

I was looking for a lighter but fully functional carbon fiber tripod. My search was over when I found this Leofoto Ranger. It even has the leveling base included. I was unfamiliar with this brand but I am pleased with the quality. Leofoto also has optional foot spikes available for different conditions.

Love, love, love this light weight carbon fiber tripod. Includes a leveling base, too. No central column shake and it works low to the ground as well. A great investment if you need a tripod when you travel.

NO Warranty is USA

Issues right away, no support. Beware Leofoto has no USA warranty or support. One leg locked up on 5th use, also small rubber foot fell off. Ugh. Not cool. Over $300 plus dollars wasted. I am a retired pro photog, I take very good care of my gear but issues right away - hope you can avoid my mistake.

Carbon, taller, sturdier, well made, gaskets on the rubber leg ends. And cheaper than the competition. A winner.

Lightweight and easy to setup, this tripod is always on my pack. The swiveling head is so handy and moves smoothly. I recommend it!

Has it's limits

Was looking for a lightweight tripod for landscape photography. This Leofoto came highly recommended by a vlogger claiming the stability to support a pro DSLR even with a 70-200 2.8 lens which I like to use occasionally for landscapes. First off this tripod is very light which is great and build quality seems great also. It's looks very much like the Robus tripods so I am guessing they are made in the same factory or at least sourcing same maker parts. I did not find it stable enough to use with the D850 and 70-200 f2.8 lens. Too much vibration and wind shake for that setup. Although if I collapsed the bottom leg section it was useable. I kept it anyways because when I get a smaller mirrorless setup it should work perfect. I might add the carry case it came with is quite nice.

I would recommend the Leofoto LH-40 Low Profile Ball Head with Quick Release Plate B&H # LELH40, as a good tripod ballhead recommendation for use with the Leofoto LS-284CEX Ranger Series Carbon Fiber Tripod.

What is the diameter of the levelling base plate where you attach a head? Would a Sirui K30x ballhead (diameter 60mm) be too large for it?
Asked by: Michael
This tripod has a full size base and so the K30x would work fine.

Is there a way to suspend a weight from the tripod to help stabilize? Or must a "rock bag" be used?
Asked by: Timothy
This tripod includes a weight hook. It is a carabiner with an attachment screw to thread into the underside of the leveling base.
