    Velbon EX-630 reviews

EX-630/F Aluminum Tripod With 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not So Good for Photography The tripod itself is OK. The problem is with the quick disconnect mounting and the Hor-to-Ver plate. The mounting plate screws securely to the camera body, but in the tripod, between the mounting plate being loose and the H-to-V also being loose (even with pinch screw so tight I'm afraid it will break) the camera flops around so much I might as well be hand holding. The D7200 and Nikkor 70-300 lens combination weighs less than 3.5 pounds. Well under the 11 pound max weight for the tripod. Yet it can move several millimeters with no effort. Forget it with a Sigma 150-600 lens. Since the head cannot be replaced on this tripod it has been turned into a studio light support.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Value My old plastic Velbon cracked when a screw was adjusted too tightly. I loved that tripod! So I looked for another Velbon. I knew that B&H had a few models in stock and I went to the store. It was not on the selling floor; the salesperson looked it up on the computer. Then it took about 10 minutes till it came from the storeroom. This is a very nice tripod. Sturdy (this one is aluminum) and quiet (a Targus I bought in a hurry last year CREAKS!), with a nice high extension, but it's heavy. There is also no hook or handle on the center column. Adjustment (side-to-side) is a bit jerky; I will check the manual to see if I can oil it. It also came with a simple carrying bag (which I haven't used because I have a large one in which I can store extension cords and masking tape). I would recommend this with reservations -- but for me, it's a reliable brand; and the price was right.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice tripod I received this tripod free with the purchase of a Pentax PF-65EDA II. The tripod handles the scope fine and is fairly light weight and easy to carry. I use this combination for birding and have been very happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good tripod This is my second tripod and the 1st is the same brand but an older model. This one is very sturdy and strong also. Little heavy but good material

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built and at the right price. I use this tripod for wide angle/landscape/pano shots and the pan head is up to the task. The build is sturdy and it handles my 7D Mark ii with out any trouble. Took this one over a few others for several reasons. Strong but light enough to carry with my gear on an outing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good tripod for spotting scope Exactly what I was hoping for. Just the right size and heavy-duty enough for my Spotting scope used for birding. Bought it sight unseen and it more than met my expectations.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Many Good Features The legs are solid and easily adjustable. I would have rated it higher, but have doubts about the lift handle and the knob that locks it. They appear to be pretty cheap plastic so I am skeptical that they won't last long. So far it's fine, but I wish that they had used metal rather than plastic. Would have gotten 4 or 5 stars if that were the case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Tripod! the salesman recommended this tripod - incredible value! lightweight, well constructed and versatile.
