Fun Using Old Lenses

I purchased the FotodioX adapter so that I could use some old Miranda lenses with my Nikon digital cameras. I bought this adapter just to play around. Everything is completely manual. It is even necessary that the lens be opened manually to focus. In addition the Nikon adapter uses a concave lens because of the additional spacing required. This increases the focal length by just over 65%. So my 105mm F2.8 lens becomes a 175mm F4.5 lens. There is some lose of quality and additional flare. I am not certain if the quality lose is mostly due to the concave lens element or if my Miranda lenses just are not that good. In any case, I am having fun playing with this adapter, and I am considering purchasing an adapter for an old Kodak Retina Xenon lens. That adapter does not have the additional lens element.

This works very well and is well made. The only quibble is that the Miranda Macro zoom lens (f=52; 1:2.8) does not fit as the macro lens has a slight projection which prevents it mating to the adapter (the difference is about 1.5mm).

How do I remove the glass element from the fotodiox miranda to nikon lens adapter? Just curious that's all.

The glass is held in place by a retention ring which can be unscrewed. It's best if you use a lens cloth and grab onto the glass on either side of the adapter, then rotate the adapter to unscrew it. The retention rings are in place rather tightly so it will take some force to unscrew them at first.

Hi, Any ideas if this will fit a MIRANDA 24mm f2.8 for an old Olympus? (to a Nikon D90 camera)I have tried a simple Nikon to OM adapter ring, and it has the wrong screw hole spacing and no recess in the collar for the lens removal trigger.

No, that adapter is not compatible with the D90.
