FotodioX FD-NIKF-PRO Overview

This Pro Lens Adapter from Fotodiox enables the use of your Canon FD lenses on Nikon F mount SLR and DSLR cameras. It features a durable brass construction with stainless steel finish and a leaf spring ensures a secure connection between the lens and adapter. Additionally, through the use of a 1.4x multi-coated focus correction lens, this adapter is designed to maintain infinity focus. This correction lens can also be removed to render the adapter as an extension tube for macro shooting.

This manual adapter does not maintain automatic lens control between the camera and lens; aperture priority or manual shooting modes should be used, as well as stop-down metering for exposure control.

Mounted this to my Nikon d200 & I now I can use my Canon kit! However, there is a limitation. In my case, images under f2.8 look muddy( could be due to the shiny bits inside the adapter or the focusing glass). I was hoping to use f1.4 for lowlight photography, but I guess that's the trade off when adapting different kit.

light leaks, not fitting

I tried to fit Canon 58mm 1.2 FL lens to Nikon D750, however the joint would not fit perfectly. Gap was found and it was shaky. The adapter could not be tightened to the body. One side of the joint was higher thus causing light leak and unable to MF properly. With K&F adapter to MFT, you can cut and file down the long screw by 75% thus ensuring a perfect fit. But I could not take out the long bit as it is not a screw. Thus I'm unable to use this adapter.

You can stop down the lens but you must use the controls on the lens.

Will this adapter allow my lens to focus to infinity? Infinity is going to be super crucial to my Canon 35mm 2.8 TS tilt shift

The FotodioX Pro Lens Mount Adapter for Canon FD Lens to Nikon F Mount Camera does support infinity focus. But Fotodiox does not list that specific lens. So results can vary. Also note the adapter adds 1.4x So the Canon 35mm lens will be more like a 49mm lens.

Does this adapter crop the image any more than the crop factor on the camera? Does it stop down the amount of light that comes through?

I have an example of considerable crop. I put a Canon FD 200 mm lens on my D750 on a tripod and took a photograph. I then put a Nikkor 200-500 mm lens on the camera and adjusted the field of view until it matched the field of view of the FD 200 mm lens. The image data said that the Nikkor was at 310 mm. I consider this neither good nor bad, but it's worth knowing.

Upon request, Fotodiox sent me a helpful pdf file. Using rubber gloves (I used surgical gloves), hold the adapter lens with a finger and a thumb, with the smaller side of the adapter toward you. With your other hand, rotate the adapter clockwise while holding the lens steady. Turn a long time, because there are a lot of threads. Eventually, the glass portion and retaining ring will pop out. It can be replaced. Good luck.

Can this be stacked with a Metabones Nikon G adapter. I want to do this: adapt my Canon FD 35-105 via the Fotodiox Pro to my Nikon G to MFT 0.64x speedbooster to my Lumix G7. This way i'll effectively gain an extra stop. If there any reason this might not work mechanically?

You could use those FD mount lenses on the D300 using the FotodioX Pro Lens Mount Adapter for Canon FD Lens to Nikon F Mount Camera. Though, the adapter does have an optic in it so that the lenses will retain focus at infinity. The optic will likely have an adverse effect on the quality you were used to getting from the lenses. Though, you can remove the optic from the adapter. The lens would lose the ability to focus on subjects in the distance, but would be able to focus closer to the subject, thus enhancing its macro capabilities.
