Purchased a Nikon Neutral Clear Filter for a new Nikkor 85mm f 1.2 portrait lens. No need to have an UV filter as the coating of the element address this. The service and shipping from B&H was exceptional. The price is extremely competitive compared to buying directly from Nikon.

Don't Skimp on Optics

I know there is some controversy regarding whether putting a clear filter on a lens will affect the lens clarity. To me, it's a no-brainer to protect any new lens that I purchase as it's far easier to replace a scratched clear filter than to permanently mar the lens glass leading to a costly repair or worse. Nikon has had a very good reputation for quality optics for around 70 years. So, paying a bit more for the Nikon name is less important to me than to risk putting an inferior 3rd party lens on a nice lens and affecting the optics with distortion or lack of sharpness.

This is one of the finer clear filters I have used. It works great to protect the lens from dust, splashes, etc and does not seem to affect image quality. Would recommend!

Just purchased the Nikon Clear Filter for a Nikkor S lens to protect the primary element. Excellent quality and a very competitive price through B&H as opposed to buying directly from Nikon. Excellent service and rapid shipping.

I purchased this Nikon 52mm clear filter to protect my new Sigma 30mm 1.4 lens for the Leica CL. The filter does not change image quality. Great to know my lens is safer.

question

Will this 52mm Clear NC Glass Filter by Nikon work/fit on my AF-s NIKKOR 17-55mm f2.8? Also, will it work/fit on NIKKOR 70-200mm f2.8VRII? What clear filter would you recommend for each of this len?Thank you.

No, that will not fit those lenses. Both lenses use a 77mm filter size not 52.This would be my first recommendation.B+W 77mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 FilterB&H # BWCXSP77 Mfr # 66-1066111http://bhpho.to/1rDbpoMThen you have this one,Hoya 77mm HD2 Protector FilterB&H # HOPH277 Mfr # XHD2-77PROTEChttp://bhpho.to/1oc4kVM

question

Can you screw a 58mm filter lens into/over the Nikon 52mm clear NC glass filter, or, must it be removed first? I have two other filters (UV and Circular Polarizing Filters) that have a 52mm screw in (for the 18X55mm lens) that step up to 58mm for adding other filters, etc.
Asked by: RONALD S.
Use a step-up ring 52-58 to screw your 58 mm filter into the Nikon 52.
