58mm Filter NC (Neutral Clear) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 101.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G I bought this nice filter to protect my new AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G lens. It does the job quite well, absolutely neutral clear. There is not any visible change on the images and is very easy to clean. In the past I have bought and use Hoya ultra slim filters which are a nightmare to get clean in house or in the field. Not the case with this Nikon filter, quick and easy cleaning with a microfiber cloth. The price is good and the quality is very high. If you want to protect the front of your lens I really recommend you this product. I am very happy with the purchase, you cannot go wrong with the Nikon NC filter. Hope that helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Lens Protection This NC filter is inexpensive protection for Nikon lenses and does not adversely affect image quality or exposure. I have these filters for all of my Nikon lenses, ranging from wide angle to telephoto. While shooting at Yellowstone National Park last summer, one of the geysers sprayed mineral-laden water/steam onto one of my larger diameter NC filters, which left deposits that could not be removed. It's better to replace a $ - $ filter than a $ lens! I highly recommend NC filters for lens protection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeping it ALL Nikon It's not just about keeping my kit ALL Nikon. I have confidence in Nikon filters the same as I have in all my other Nikon gear. I always keep some sort of filter - clear or otherwise - on my lenses here in the middle east. I haven't scratched a lens OR a filter in the past nine years in the field dealing with blowing sand and dust on a daily basis, but I don't intend to take that chance either. When I add a new lens to my kit, I add an NC filter at the same time. No exceptions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says on the box As the title says...... The filter is multicoated and i have owned five of these in various sizes. I say 'have' as in i have broken 1 of them. One of the four i still own, took a serious knock on the corner of a concrete wall and has a hardly noticably chip. I work my equipment hard and try not to abuse it, but inevitably it happens from time to time. I was offered a B+W more expensive equivelant for the same price and rigerously tested it... The Nikon NC came out better with better coatings... Oh yeah, i am regularly wiping off sea spray from this filter with the rim of the t'shirt im wearing and the coatings are still intact. ..They aint cheap but if you've blown your wedge on a good lens, its false economy to have it seeing through poor glass or not have its front element protected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Glass! Checked various forums online. Nikon's neutral clear filter was clearest of all, including B&W's, when placed on white paper for comparison. Put it on my 55mm F1.4G Nikon lens & there it stays...excellent clarity, fit, & protection. Using all Nikon filters like this for lens protection. No flare problems, no coloration...just smart protection. Buy 'em from B&H...always cheaper than your local retail photog store & always 1st class quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Filter You Can Buy I bought the 72mm version of this filter for one of my Nikon lenses and was very impressed with the coating on this piece of glass. So when I moved over to the Canon 5D mk2, I bought several of these filters for my new Canon primes. If you just aren't satisfied with a standard UV filter, this is what you need, no matter what brand of lens you have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TRANSPARENT I SCREWED THIS PUPPY ON MY NIKOR 50MM F 1.8 LENS. LOOKING FROM THE FRONT I COULD NOT SEE IT WAS ON! TOOK SEVERAL SHOTS WITH AND WITHOUT. NO DIFFERENCE. NO FLARE. HOWEVER, THE OBJECTIVE LENS IS RECESSED QUITE A BIT. THIS MAY HAVE ACTED LIKE A HOOD. I DID SHOOT TOWARDS THE SUN. CAMERA WAS A NIKON D7000.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inexpensive Protection An inexpensive way to protect your lens(s) from any damage - much cheaper to replace a clear filter than the entire lens (obviously) - I did test shots in several controlled shooting situations and do NOT notice any image quality loss.
