I am purchasing 3 new Rebel SL1 bodies and EF 17-85 lenses. I want to put a cheap Tiffin UV filter (67mm) on for protection. Do I need the wide angle Tiffin UV filter (67mm)with this camera lens combo? If so, Why. Thank you
The Canon 17-85mm lens wont be overly wide on the Rebel SL1, so you wouldnt need to go with a slim/wide angle filter. You could go with a normal UV filter.

While some Tiffen filters are multi-coated, the Tiffen 77mm UV Protector Filter listed above is not. The Tiffen 77mm UV Haze 86 Digital HT Filter, B&H # TIH86DHT77, would be the only 77mm UV filter from Tiffen which would be multi-coated.

I don’t know but I would assume that a 77mm will fit all 77mm. If I were you I would go on line to B&H or call them.
