Nikon Neutral Clear Filter Reviews

Possible Design/Manufacturer Defect on Nikon NC 95mm Filters

For those considering this or other Nikon Neutral Clear filters, beware... they consist of two rings: one attaches the filter directly to lens body, the other screws into the lens attachment ring and holds the filter glass in place. But not always and not for long. Sooner or later, you filter glass is going to rattle against the rings because the secondary filter holding the glass in place will loosen for no obvious reason. It started with this filter attached to my Nikon PF 600mm, and before it happened with the same filter attached to my Nikon PF 500mm. Each filter began to loosen and rattle. It is a very difficult and delicate manual task to tighten the secondary ring, which will involve smudging the glass, struggling with near microscopic threads, etc. The photo SM community is aware of this problem and there are at least a few posts in the review of this filter also complaining about it. But don't take your concern to B&H because after a mere 30 days, it's YOUR problem, not B&H's. The tech rep I dealt with admits seeing this issue with the Nikon NC filters. No refunds, no credits.

will this 82 mm filter fit the z 24-70 f/4.5 lens?
Asked by: james
Yes, but you will need a 72-82mm step-up ring. This will also prevent you from using the supplied lens hood. I am assuming you are referring to the 24-70mm f/4 lens.

Does this filter out UV (Ultra Violet) light? I contemplate use with full spectrum cameras.
Asked by: Ronald
This question has already been answered by several B&H customers. This is not meant to filter rays of any wavelength, but solely to protect the front element of an expensive lens with a piece of quality glass that will not affect your images. A quality product for a quality lens. The u/v filters available in the aftermarket will tend to modify the quality of your images. BTW, I just checked the Nikon website and could not find any u/v filters available. Just NC (neutral color) or polarizing filters. Other filters are available, for example, the Skylight filter, to reduce haze. So, you should be safe using the Nikon NC filters for your purpose. Hope this helps.

Will this filter fit on a Panasonic HC-X1200 video camera?

The original equipment manufactued hood just fits with the filter on. Screw the filter down tightly. The hood just barely clicks, but does click, to secure to the camera.

No, the Nikon Neutral Clear Filter (67mm) will not fit the Nikon COOLPIX B500 Digital Camera (Black) because there are no accessory threads in front of the lens on the camera.
