Rode NT-USB Desktop USB Microphone

Record podcasts, voice-overs, and even sung vocals for your productions with the RODE NT-USB, a USB microphone that captures broadcast-quality recordings in your home studio or mobile setup. If all you have is a room and a computer (or iOS device), you can use this microphone to record your voice with resolution and clarity.

Podcasters will appreciate the cardioid polar pattern-which naturally reduces room noise by rejecting any audio to the back and rear of the mic's capsule-as well as the built-in pop filter to minimize p-pops and plosives. Musicians will love the Direct Mix Control, as it will help them balance the level between their own voice and pre-recorded instruments without incurring latency. Both will be thankful the mic comes with all the accessories one needs to set it up right out of the box.

Designed for Your Voice, However You Use It

This mic is designed for your voice, whether you use it to podcast, record voice overs, or to sing over productions you've created in your laptop.

Works with Your Setup

The mic will operate with both Mac and Windows computers as well as iOS tablets, so long as you have the compatible adapter for mobile devices (available separately). No preamp, interface, converters, or mixer are necessary for recording your voice.

Cardioid Polar Pattern for the Untreated Room

The microphone makes use of a directional cardioid polar pattern to minimize off-axis sound. This polar pattern naturally, yet effectively tamps down room tone and focuses the audio capture on what's directly in front of the mic. Depending on your particular room, you may still need a little room treatment, or some noise-reduction software, to address issues such as your computer's hum or your air conditioner—but the chances of that are markedly lower with a cardioid polar pattern.

Built-In 3.5mm Headphone Jack and Direct Mix Control

The mic offers a headphone jack for monitoring. Just plug a pair of headphones into the NT-USB Mini's 3.5mm jack, and you'll be able to listen to your Broadcast-quality audio in all its glory. Also, a convenient volume dial helps you raise or lower the headphone volume—you won't have to change the volume on your computer or your recording software to hear audio at your desired level. Lastly, the mic has a Direct Mix Control, so you can hear your voice balanced against any pre-recorded tracks at just the right level.

Broadcast-Quality Audio Capture

The mic records audio at 16-bit / 48 kHz, giving you the broadcast standard for media playback. Your recording will be up to digital snuff with this mic!

Get Going Right Out of the Box

An included USB cable means you can get up and running right away. An included pop shield helps mitigate vocal pops and plosives for a cleaner sound. A desktop stand is included, as is a ring mount for your own mic stands, and a storage pouch for when the mic is not in use.

Auray RF-C12 Professional Desktop Isolation Filter (Gray)

The gray RF-C12 Professional Desktop Isolation Filter from Auray is a desktop solution that allows music producers, broadcasters, and podcasters to get better recordings by isolating a microphone from vibrations and sound reflections, especially when its used in a space that is less than ideal for capturing audio. The Auray Desktop Isolation Filter makes capturing clean, dry vocals or instruments more natural sounding with less sonic coloration.

The RF-C12 fits on a desk or tabletop and uses multi-layer acoustic treatment to absorb unwanted ambient noise and control acoustic reflections. So, if you're recording vocals, voiceovers, or podcasts in an untreated room with hard surfaces, the RF-CF20 provides advanced microphone isolation.

Microphone Isolation

Recording, broadcasting, or podcasting in rooms with little-to-no acoustic treatment can wash-out vocal or instrument audio recordings with echo reflections. The Auray Desktop Isolation Filter fits on your desk or tabletop and minimizes reflections of unwanted noise bouncing off hard surfaces from entering your microphone. Usually, expensive acoustic foam is required on walls for your room to sound dry. With this reflection filter, you capture what you want in your own room or workspace.

Multi-Layer Acoustic Treatment

Multiple layers of acoustic treatment help to isolate your vocal and instrument recordings. A thick layer of composite fiber surrounds your microphone and absorbs unwanted reflections as well as any noise coming in from the room. A layer of acoustic fabric and a molded-vented polymer shield help deaden and disperse sound waves, leaving you with clean and dry recordings with little to no coloration.

Adjustable Mic Depth

The RF-C12 allows the microphone depth to be adjusted so you can dial in the right amount of room ambience. Easily slide the microphone closer to the filter for less pickup of room noise or slide the microphone away to add space in your audio recording.

Filter Stand

The Auray Desktop Isolation Filter is mounted on its own stand. This allows you to place your filter and mic setup on a desk or tabletop, which is ideal for recording vocals, doing live podcasts, or broadcast applications. It's a portable option for doing recordings on the go. The isolation filter's height is adjustable from 7.25 to 9.1". (18.4 to 23 cm), and can accommodate all sizes—short or tall—to optimize mic placement when capturing audio.

Is there any xlr adapter I can use to hook up to mixer?
Asked by: Tim
This is a USB microphone, meaning that it is essentially recognized by your computer as a sound card with an attached microphone. There is no mic level output. However, there is a no-latency headphone level output. As such, while it would be a less common way to use this microphone, you could also choose to use a cable such as this one to feed the audio from this microphone to a line level input on a mixer: Hosa Technology XVM-101M Angled Stereo 3.5mm to 3-Pin XLR Male Microphone Cable (1') BH #HOSMMRAXM1 https://bhpho.to/2T9p3nf

Yes this a great microphone to record vocals, voiceover and even to be used for a podcast. I do recommend connecting your headphones on the bottom of microphone where the headphone output is located it will sound more accurate then connecting your headphones to the computer.

Asked by: Trudy
I’m not an expert but I’ve been using them for almost a year now, I’ll say that you get the best out of this mic when you are speaking very close to them. I would not recommend it as an ambient mic. I use them for podcasting or voice over and y put my mouth very close to them and the sound is outstanding

Can this microphone be directly connected to an iPad?
Asked by: Stacy
The microphone comes with a USB wire. I have a definite recollection that I did connect this microphone to an iPad at one point, but I cannot seem to locate the dongle I would have needed to accomplish that at the moment. You cannot connect it without a dongle that accepts USB to iPad connection.

Can this microphone be used with an Apple M1 chip?
Asked by: Jonathan
I have never seen a USB2 to USB-C cable, and neither a [email protected] to lightning cable if one were to want to use this with an iPad Pro. Perhaps if one used a hub, but those are rare as hens teeth with the USB2 on them.
