Opteka 35mm f/1.7 overview

  • 1Description

Simple yet versatile, the Fujifilm X-mount 35mm f/1.7 Lens from Opteka is a 52.5mm equivalent lens characterized by its bright f/1.7 maximum aperture to suit working in low-light conditions and for achieving shallow depth of field. One super-low dispersion element is featured in the optical design, and helps to minimize color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to realize high clarity and color accuracy. An HD anti-reflection coating has also been applied to suppress flare and ghosting and a nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality. Additionally, the lens sports a manual focus design and its manual aperture ring has been de-clicked for smooth, silent aperture transitions.

This 35mm f/1.7 lens is designed for APS-C-format Fujifilm X-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 52.5mm equivalent focal length.
Bright f/1.7 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field.
One super-low dispersion element is used to reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing for increased clarity and color accuracy.
An HD anti-reflection coating has been applied in order to suppress ghosting and flare for increased contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.
Nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.
Manual focus design along with a manual aperture ring offer precise control over both focus and exposure, and the aperture ring has been de-clicked for smooth, silent f/stop changes to suit filmmaking applications.
All-metal construction is durable and depth of field and focus distance scales have been engraved on the lens barrel for pre-focusing needs.

    Opteka 35mm f/1.7 reviews

    35mm f/1.7 Lens for Fujifilm X is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good optics: How long will it last? The lens arrived and I shot about 200 frames handheld on a 16 MP Fujifilm XE2s. Optically, the lens has very good performance. When you get the focus right, it renders extremely fine detail. Sharpness at the edges improves as it is stopped down. Very flat field by f/4. Color and overall contrast look "normal", that is: Not much different from Fujifilm lenses. My new copy has a tiny amount of play in the helicoid key. If the play gets worse, that'll be a drag. The nonlinear aperture ring that's missing marks fro f/5.6, f/11 and f/16 is a bit funkadelic. How long will the lens last? Unknown. I tried the Fujifilm 35/1.4, but I couldn't stand the sad slow focus motor operation. I'd rather shoot with this lens!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s perfect for what it is. It’s a manual X Mount lens with endless possibilities. The clarity is unreal and it’s perfect for my daily shooting. It’s made VERY well, all metal casing. The price is low because it’s a manual lens no autofocus or anything, not because it’s low quality. I’m in love, plan on picking a few more lenses from Opteka for my Fugi.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly good I wanted a FF 50mm-equivalent lens for my Fuji XE-2s, but don't like the slow motorized focus of the Fuji 35/1.4 lens. This lens appears to be similar/the same as the Meike 35/1.7 sold elsewhere, and the observed optical performance and build quality comport with the reviews I've seen of that lens. When shot on a Fujifilm XE-2s(16MP), my copy has high performance in the central area at all stops(tested from f/1.7 to f/8), and the far edges of the frame get pretty sharp by f/5.6 or f/8. The lens is very small, and the focus and aperture rings operate very smoothly. The focus calibration is off: 10 feet on the dial is really 11.5 feet actual focus. The lens focuses "past" infinity, which is inconvenient. Flare is very well controlled. Many shots with this lens are indistinguishable from shots done with the $600 Fujifilm XF 35/ 1.4. The un-notched aperture ring is another minus.
