Vello FreeWave Plus Wireless Remote Shutter Release for Nikon

Trigger your camera's shutter wirelessly with the FreeWave Plus Wireless Remote Shutter Release from Vello, a lightweight remote control system that will help you avoid unwanted camera movement. This 2.4 GHz model is compatible with Nikon cameras and will work both wired and wirelessly up to 320', depending on your own needs and setup. This makes it useful for photographing wildlife or for macro and long exposures where it is necessary to eliminate any chance of camera shake.

The FreeWave system also has access to 16 channels for triggering multiple receivers and has an internal antenna that will be protected from any accidental damage. Multiple features are available for shooting, such as a four-second delay as well as multi-exposure and long exposure modes. The device also has a dual function release, enabling focus on half press and triggering the shutter release on a full press. Additionally, it has LED indicators to confirm pre-focus and exposure while in wireless mode and the receiver and transmitter each run on two AAA batteries.

Does anyone have personal experience that the Vello FreeWave Plus can definitely start-stop Sony A7iii video when "Start/Stop video" has been assigned to the shutter button? Thank you. Canada, February 2021.
Asked by: Matthew
I was intrigued by your question and tried it out. I can tell you that if you have the video assigned to the shutter button, the Vello FreeWave Plus will 100% start and stop your video.

question

Will this work at a distance of 320 feet as listed in the specs? Or not really?
Asked by: Michael
[My error, sorry! , So resending here with metric typo corrected below: !!!!!!!!!] Yes, I tested them several times in subzero temperature but direct line of sight so far. At 320 feet measured by tape, best to hold the transmitter up like people hold phones to make videos, as at this distance some units seem reliable in the vertical position while facing the distant camera receiver. February 2021 in Canada.

question

Can you set this up to fire off multiple cameras at the exact same time?
Asked by: Anonymous
Followup to exact simultaneous firing of cameras: two things to try if it didn't work at first: be sure all cameras are on manual focus (so they don't hesitate or hunt at different speeds) and first do a half-press of the remote (focus/wake up) to get the cameras ready if they may have gone on power saver mode.

question

With two receivers on different cameras will one transmitter trigger both cameras?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, it works beautifully on multiple cameras! (If dip switches are all set the same) and from a full 120 meters if line of sight, tested in Canada below freezing in January 2021.

I have 3 different cameras I'd like to use this with: 2 copies of the Sony A7Rii and the A7Riii. Can this initially be paired with each camera, and will the remote remember each or do I have to re-program it when I switch cameras? Thank you.
Asked by: Diane
You would assign lets say Camera one channel 1 on the receiver camera 2 channel 2 and camera 3 cannel 3 and on the trigger you switch the channel according to the camera you wont to trigger

Are the only differences in the Vello RWII-C and the RWII-N the wires that are included? Would one that's for a Canon work on a Nikon if I just had the Nikon cable?
Asked by: Wayde
Same units but different connection types. So yes, technically the canon one would work on the Nikon if you have the proper cord.
